FESOJ Concludes Training for 25 journalists on Ethical reporting and Freedom of Expression in Beledweyne, Hirshabelle State
Press Statement: Mogadishu, Saturday , January 4, 2020: In partnership with Free Press Unlimited (FPU) , the Federation of Somali journalists (FESOJ) has conducted training workshop on Ethical Reporting and Freedom of Expression and legal limitation for 25 journalists working for the various media outlets in Beledweyne City, Hirshabelle State.
The opening of the 2- day training workshop has been officiated by Mohamed Abdurahman, Minister of Information of Hirshabelle State pointing out that his administration is respecting the set-out laws that are not violating the freedom of expression. He assured the Hirshabelle State will not interfere the work of the press and its independence.
Furthermore, Hassan Ibrahim Abdulle, the Deputy Governor of Hiran Regional Management and Finance thanking FESOJ has mentioned the Hiran regional journalist are in need for capacity building to upgrade their professional skills.
The Freedom of Expression is part of the internationally recognized universal human rights. Every individual has the right to independently express his opinion and disseminate, and should not infringe the religion, physical, wealth, intelligence, dignity and position of other person.
“ FESOJ and its member journalists is always standing for defending the principles of freedom of speech through honest data collection, permission for the right to express views without violation, printing and broadcasting news and information.” Abadir Abdulkadir Elmi, President of FESOJ said in his opening remarks.
