According to the FESOJ Constitution, an elected member from the executive committee will take up in charge until the next General Assembly in June 2023 in which the new Secretary General of FESOJ will be elected by Somali journalists

“I will focus on advocating for journalists and media workers and capacity building of our journalists, in order to make changes for the difficult situation in which the Somali journalists are working today, given that Somalia is still at the top of the list of the most dangerous countries for journalists” Farah Omar Nur, new FESOJ secretary general said.
“As a media trainer who interacting directly with journalists across the country, I know a lot about their problems they routinely face and the concerns they have, but I believe that in order to make progress it is necessary for all of us to work together, since one person or two can’t do alone more and impossible to make a tangible difference” Farah added
“We welcome Farah Omar Nur who is indeed a well-known and respected figure in the media, and I hope he will fulfill his difficult task. Advocating for the media is not an easy task, and we always hear about abused journalists in the country every day, so I am confident that Farah will take the lead” Abaadir Abdulkadir Elmi FESOJ President said.
