FESOJ Mourns the Death of Veteran Somali Journalist in UK

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) mourns the loss of veteran journalist Mohamed Aden Hersi better known as Terra, who passed away in London on Thursday morning June 7, 2018.

Late Mohamed Aden Hersi “Terra” died in the late hours of Thursday morning in a hospital in London. He has been recently sick and was admitted in a hospital in London, where he was confirmed now died. Abdinur Shiekh a prominent BBC journalist and a brother in law of late Mohamed also confirmed Mohamed’s death a post in his Facebook.

Mohamed was one of the most famous Somali journalists in the Somali speaking society and he was among many journalists who joined to Radio Mogadishu in the early 1970s. Mohamed Aden Hersi “Terra” held a number of positions in Mogadishu Radio as the head of radio stations. He was also one of the first team to graduate from the faculty of journalism in the National University of Somalia. In recent years Mohamed was working with the London-based Universal TV

“On behalf of Somali Journalists, I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of late Mohamed Aden Hersi Mohamed and ask Allah to give him in hereafter life in paradise. Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu Secretary General of National Union of Somali Journalists said.

“The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) shares this sad feeling and loss to all Somali Journalists and the family’s members of late Mohamed Aden Hersi” Mahir Jama President of NUSOJ said in written statement I call on Somali journalists in London to take part in the funeral of the deceased journalist and share the pain and sadness with family and friends of late Mohamed .Moalimuu NUSOJ SG said.
