
Voices at Risk: FESOJ Annual Report on Press Freedom in Somalia

Mogadishu, Wednesday May 7, 2025: The Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) has today formally released its Annual Press Freedom Report 2024 – 2025 entitled: -Voices at Risk: Somalia Press Freedom Report.”
The main intention for issuing the annual press freedom report is to mark the press freedom in connection with world press Freedom Day, assess its current status, defend media independence, and honor journalists who have been harmed in the line of duty.
It also serves as a reminder of the importance of a free press for democracy and platform to highlight challenges faced by journalists including detention, censorship, harassment and violence.
The FESOJ annual report briefly presents 65 cases of violations against journalists relating with death, injuries, detention, torture, limitations and attack on media outlets that have been recorded during the reporting period from May 2024 to May 2025.
